One Body 02:44
There’s too many people that do not care. They say it ain’t no use in trying But the oppressors, they’re everywhere, and so many innocents are dying. CHORUS: Everybody, make your choice, we have to act as one. One body, one voice, united we are strong – They got money, and they got guns, create turmoil and confusion. But we got spirit, and we got faith. It’s a peaceful revolution. CHORUS: Everybody, make your choice, we have to act as one. One body, one voice, united we are strong — Solo — CHORUS X 2

Dogs are barking, some drunk ones talking, and the guys next door only scream and shout. I’m fed up with violence, I just want some silence. I wanna know what life is all about. Hey! Where do I fit in, in this cra-, crazy, crazy world? Tired of the striving, I went out driving, I took away and left the city life behind. In the wilderness, I feel no lonelyness, it’s my paradise where peace I find. Hey! I speak the same language as the prairie wind and the sparkling fountain water. Ooh..And I see those Canada Geese fly back home. If I had wings I would have joined them. Mmmh… I see them disappear into the sun. And then they’re gone. Some fields are blooming, but some are gloomy, some sights are wonderful only at first glance. If there is sadness, there must be gladness, it’s just a matter of such a circumstance. Hey! Can you imagine a life without desire? Storm and thunder, it made me wonder, what’s going on up there in our universe? A star was falling, and I was calling, well I made a wish for a better world. Hey! I sometimes think that soon everything will be all right. Ooh..And I see those big black clouds drifting away. It’s getting clear and I’m getting closer. Mmmh… closer to a place and a state of mind where I wanna stay. Step by step I’m getting closer.

I am a wanderer so far from home, I’m a guardian of peace challenging evil wherever I roam. A son of chivalry with a firm belief, I’m loyal to the good forces in heaven on a mission of peace. I left my burdens way far behind, I carry no heavy load. Light is my body, peaceful my mind, while I’m walking down the road. — I am a traveler, awaken from a dream. Nothing can stop me at all, I’m like a running stream. Someone is guiding me, taking care of me, by my side on this journey. I’m walking with dignity. Sad times and bad times I’ve passed, and they hurt a while. But now, if trouble knocks on the door, I greet him with a smile. — From village to village I bring the news. No matter where I go, no matter which road I choose, I’m bringing people the truth, bringing people the truth. — I am a wanderer so far from home, I’m a guardian of peace challenging evil wherever I roam. A son of chivalry with a firm belief, I’m loyal to the good forces in heaven on a mission of peace. I left my burdens way far behind, I carry no heavy load. Light is my body, peaceful my mind, while I’m walking down the road.

Up in the mountains, I can hear the only sound, of sparkling spring water. I’m walking on holy ground. Far away from city, out in no mans land. Where the indians once chased the buffaloes. Where the miners found gold in the river sand Up in the mountains… In the early morning light. We do the meditation. Uplifted in a field so bright. A kind of transformation. Up in the mountains…

Three years ago I raised a banner in Tiananmen. It was shining like gold with Chinese characters ”Zhen, Shan, Ren”*. For that I was arrested, and sent away to a place they’re calling the devils den. They told me when I got there: ”Here you’ll suffer, and no one walks out alive.” I’ve been beaten black and blue. You don’t wanna know what I’ve been through. Well I have… Climbed the mountains and the hills, I’ve crossed many rivers. They can never break my will, they can’t make me waver. What hurts me most is when I’m thinking ’bout my worried mum. And in my dirty cell I got a picture of my son. I miss his smile and laughter, but I know that some day’s gonna come. When we can walk hand in hand together, on the road of freedom. I will leave without a trace. No more dark and cloudy days. Sharp and shining like hardened steel, diamond-like forever. They can never break my will, they can’t make me waver. * The Chinese words for the core principles of Falun Gong – Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance

Back in 1989 in Germany the Berlin wall was fallin’ down. The same year tanks were rollin’ in on Tianmen Square, I heard the crazy sound. Today China is a battlefield between good and bad. Soon the walls gonna fall down here. The frustration’s like a ticking time bomb, that’ll make all the walls disappear. Hey you people on the outside, outside the border of this land. Can’t you hear my call? We are suffocating! Can somebody understand? So many dynasties ago the emperor let folks have liberty. Nowadays the men in charge are so afraid of losing power, they talk about stability. And the leaders of the party, they got blood on their hands. They got blood on their minds too. They control my mind, my heart and soul, they even control my tears. So what can I do? I wanna cry out loud, I wanna cry my tears away. But it’s not allowed, to sob in silence is the Chinese way. Hey you people on the outside… I wanna cry out loud, I wanna cry those tears away. But then I'm gonna stand up proud, and quit the party. THAT’S the Chinese way. To quit the party, to quit the party, to quit the party, is the Chinese way, the Chinese way.

about

Genre: A mixture of rock, soulful pop and American roots/folk music (Americana).

Instrumentation: Acoustic guitar, bass, drums, steel guitar, electric guitar, keyboards, accordion, violin, flute, percussion.

This year (2009) marks 60 years since the Chinese Communist Party took power in China, and 50 years since the repression intensified in Tibet. It has been 20 years since the massacre on Tiananmen square, and 10 years since the persecution of Falun Gong officially began in China.

All of the songs on this CD are about freedom, and some touch upon human rights abuses in China. I am optimistic that this way of creating awareness will contribute to change.

about

Anders Eriksson

I have been writing songs since the middle of the 80s. My music is mixture of rock, soulful pop and American roots/folk music (Americana).

I have been engaged in the fight for human rights in China since many years. This commitment is reflected in some of my songs. For example "They Can’t Make Me Waver" which is a homage to the Chinese Falun Gong practitioner Liu Chengjun.
